Public AI Summit for Educators

Since the arrival of ChatGPT four years ago, schools have faced three interlocking dilemmas. First, schools need to do something–many of the typical routines used in secondary schools and colleges no longer foster learning. Second, we do not know what to do next. No one has developed AI policy, practices, or professional development with a track record of evidence. Third, looking back in edtech history, many of our early guesses about how to approach new technologies prove to be wrong: sometimes benignly wrong, but sometimes disastrously wrong. Soyou should do something, but we can’t tell you what to do, and be careful because it could very easily be harmful–this is the delightful place that educators find themselves in 2026. It’s a hard and frustrating place, and schools are not well adapted to navigating extended periods of uncertainty, but it’s where we are, so let’s figure out how to move forward together. with heaping servings of humility, experimentation, and ongoing evaluation.
