About us
We bring together trusted voices in AI to help shape a future that benefits humanity.
Helping people understand AI
The Public AI Summit is co-hosted by the Data Nutrition Project (DNP) and the AI Pedagogy Project (AIPP), two initiatives committed to making AI more understandable, transparent, and useful for the public.
Since 2021, DNP has hosted a series of AI Summits bringing together leading researchers and practitioners from around the world who are working on responsible AI. These early Summits focused on foundational topics related to AI documentation, convening the creators of influential frameworks such as Model Cards, Data Cards, Data Sheets for Datasets, and FactSheets. The 2023 Summit expanded to topics including sociotechnical AI audits, bringing together industry leaders, policymakers, and civil society organizations to advance emerging best practices for evaluating AI systems. These expert gatherings have produced widely used reports, practical resources, and collaborations that continue to shape the field, including the CLeAR Documentation Framework for AI Transparency.
As interest in AI rapidly expanded beyond technical communities, DNP partnered with AIPP to launch the first Public AI Summit in 2025. Over two days, more than 1,400 participants—including educators, students, librarians, public servants, journalists, and other professionals—joined the free virtual event to learn from experts, exchange ideas, and build practical AI knowledge together.
Today, the Public AI Summit builds on this foundation by making rigorous, research-informed AI education freely accessible to everyone. DNP and AIPP combine deep expertise in how AI systems are developed and governed with years of experience translating that knowledge into practical guidance that people can use in classrooms, workplaces, and other community contexts.
