Jotwan T. Daniels

Jotwan Daniels is the Associate Dean of Planning, Assessment, Improvement, and Impact at Colorado Mountain College and a Professor of History with a passion for helping educators design meaningful learning experiences grounded in inquiry, evidence, and reflection. A former K-12 social studies educator and coach, AP World History teacher, IB Diploma Coordinator, and instructional leader, Jotwan brings more than two decades of experience supporting students and educators across multiple educational settings. Jotwan’s work focuses on strengthening teaching and learning through intentional assessment practices, high-impact teaching strategies, civic education, and responsible approaches to emerging technologies. As a historian and educator, he is particularly interested in how artificial intelligence can be integrated in ways that promote academic integrity, critical thinking, historical inquiry, and deeper engagement with complex questions. Through his work with faculty development initiatives, including assessment workshops, course redesign efforts, and professional learning communities, Jotwan supports educators in moving beyond compliance-oriented approaches toward reflective practices that improve student learning. His recent work explores how educators can help students critically evaluate information, question narratives, and develop the intellectual habits necessary to navigate an increasingly complex digital world. Jotwan is committed to creating equitable learning environments where students are empowered to engage thoughtfully with evidence, technology, and the diverse perspectives that shape our shared understanding of the world.
