About
Dr. Randi Williams is an Assistant Research Professor at the Human-Computer Interaction Institute at Carnegie Mellon University. Her work creates sustaining bridges between communities and technology to drive innovation at the intersection of AI for education, human-robot interaction, and responsible computing. As a global voice in AI education and official TED speaker, her work has been featured in prominent media outlets including PBS’s RoadTrip Nation, The Atlantic, Wired, and MIT Technology Review.
Dr. Williams earned her Ph.D. (’24) and Masters (’18) from MIT in the Personal Robots Group at the MIT Media Lab. She earned her Bachelor’s (’16) in Computer Engineering as a Meyerhoff Scholar at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Dr. Williams has spearheaded initiatives like Day of AI and the MIT RAISE AI Playground, making AI instruction available to millions of educators worldwide. She is a founding director of the Boston Chapter of Black in Robotics. Previously, Dr. Williams worked at the Algorithmic Justice League, Microsoft Research, NASA Jet Propulsion Lab, and MIT Lincoln Lab.
